    The Tea Of Sleep

    Merry Meet again!

Happy Imbolc or Candelmas which ever you preferre!

I work third shift and been having trouble sleeping Iwas taking over the counter sleep aids but was always groggya nd drugged... My new discovery is chamomile tea!  I had no idea it works so well. Ijust buy the Lipton Variety at my  local walmart called Bedtime story and it putsme out if i have two cups.. actualy i get very tingly and almost drugged by it.  Has anyone else had this experience with Chamomile tea?  I am also a science based persona d Researched some of its effects.. you knwo the FDA doesnt research herbs for many reasons which i wont get into now BUT the scientific studies i found on the net if they are true are ASTOUNDING!   Not only is there supposedly a chemical in chamomile that is a sedative but with a lot milder effects of course but reacted the same in the brain.  Also it was researched to treat bowel ailments sauch as IBS with great results especially in children.  The biggest one of all Anticarcogenic research is proving promising that chamomile is helping with certain cancers in research labs ... NOw this is all heresay from me of course but the cancers they studied where prostate and breast cancers, Was not a cure by any means BUT did help fight it in the study.

Okay so WOW is all i can think, I drank the Tea and my lips got tingly and numb and I sleep, usually witha bit of wild dreams nothing scary just erratic BUT it works and then i research and see all this stuff about it!  how cool.  of course if people are on MEds that treat these conditions The Tea would then possibly hurt you if taking and prescribed Sedatives and drinking alchohol and so forth.

Are there any Herbalists out there reading this blog? If so please please contact me I would love to know more about Herbal medicines and natural cures.. yes yes I know magickally we can use the vibrations BUt as all you witches out here know Knowledge is magick and magick is power the more you know the more we can do with it.  I believe myself that medicine part of science and witchcraft can work together not sure how yet BUT im seeing its potential to do so.

I hope you all that read this are doing well, okay I also hope all that dont read this is doing well also!  Hahahah

    Hello there,
I'm an amature herbalist... I've been studying herbs for about 7 years. On the topic of insomnia and such, I've found that chamomile is too mild for me. Valerian tea is also an excellent sedative, it's mild as well, but I feel that it's stronger than chamomile. Valerian can taste pretty bad... (think wet dog) but there is an wonderfully tasting tea that I've found that works WONDERS!
The brand is Yogi Tea and the tea itself is called "Bedtime" You should check it out, you can find it in the health food section of your grocery store, unfortunately, I haven't found it at walmart yet... Trader Joe's carries some of the Yogi Teas, but I haven't seen Bedtime there yet.
Anyway, that's about all I have to say... :)

I wanted to comment on the chamomile tea. I have used this for YEARS. Twenty years ago, I had such bad muscles spasms in my back that the hospital wanted to give me a handicap sticker and do surgury. I refused and started drinking chamomile tea for breakfast instead of coffee. It is a great diuretic and good for muscle spasms. I don't drink a strong cup. If I want to relax and sleep, I use double the amount, but for my own purposes a mild cup in the morning works great. Gets rid of water that makes my joints achey from arthritis and relaxes those muscles that hamper my movements. I have never had the surgury though days have become more painful (I believe that has to do with age.....tee hee). I have friends with the same back problems who went on pill therapy and who now take dozens of pills for pain and can't seem to get out of their own chair. I am a spry old lady however and work every day and manage to accomplish many things while not at work. Goddess bless the chamomile plant.
